I will try to donate to charities as much as I can and I will try to join some volunteer organization to help society. I will pray for all and make confessions to god about my mistakes everyday. I will forgive all who hurt me and forget past acrimony. I don't know when death will approach me, so I will always be alert about my actions and act in the way that pleases my maker.

Women's Day- Should It Be Celebrated?

When we celebrate a day, we consider something special about that day. Or we would not be celebrating it. Am I correct? What message do we send by celebrating Women's Day? Why not also celebrate Men's Day?

What do we want to think about women? Ideally, they should be treated equally in all the fields. Ideally when one thinks of a woman, one should not think about them different in any respect to men. Except that they mother a child and shoulder different responsibility for a certain period, women should be thought of as equal to men in all respects. Why label them as weaker sex or any such thing. But this is happening. Who is responsible for this thought process, where women are considered different? Men? Women? Historical processes? Who? Let us examine more. Does nature differentiate between clouds and mountains? Or between rivers and oceans/ no. All co exist without any differences, and each plays its role beautifully.

Role Of Media -

Coming back, let us talk of media and its opinion making .Does media discuss the matter, if a man reaches top of a giant corporation? No. But it does if a woman occupies that position. Why? Is it only because women have traditionally not occupied such positions or that they are in some way considered inferior to men? So it is a surprise if a woman reaches the top of a giant organization? Why cannot the media ignore such occurrences and not call them as news at all? Does media announce - the sun rose today! No. It is taken as a way of life and nature. Why can not media take this fact as granted that women are equal to men in all the aspects and stop discussing any issues that talk of sex difference and ability?

Does Womens Day not do the same thing? Does it now somehow manage to project women as different then men in many ways? Going forward in the discussion, should we have different events for men and women in sports? With such categorization are we ourselves not treating men and women separately?

Make Your Own Holiday Day

March 26th is Make Your Own Holiday Day. This is one of the most flexible holidays. You can celebrate this day for any reason you wish. It is for you. Make a day to celebrate a day you have forgotten, or invent one for your fun. There is no compulsion and no common theme for the day. This day is for each of us to enjoy a holiday. I have not been able to find out how this tradition originated.

But is a great idea. Make a holiday today, if it is 26th March. Why not to expand the idea little further and begin celebrating many more days for no rhyme or reason but to enjoy and have fun? All right, we need not take a holiday from work on all such days, but can try to create a holiday-like atmosphere. Can this not be done? Let me elaborate. For example, I make 7th of every month a special day for myself. I work on that day, but try to bring in as much fun as possible. Throw parties, go walking, take life little less seriously and try to fill the day with as much joy as possible. I hope that I am making myself clear.

All of us have conditioned our minds. We will celebrate each holiday on a particular day and follow the particular tradition for that. Why? Why not to be little more inventive and create our own holidays along with other traditional ones? Imagine 12 more days a year full of fun and joy. Let me give another example. Say, I was born on the 10th July. Generally, I will celebrate my birthday on that day every year. Why cannot I call every 10th my birthday and have fun? No, I am not asking for presents for twelve birthdays, but at least nothing can stop me from treating friends? Nothing can stop me from enjoying the 10th of every month as my birthday and carry that cheer in my heart?

Only our attitude stops us from making a day cheerful for our friends and ourselves. 26th March reminds us of the immense possibilities of human imagination to make our life a beautiful life. Best, let us make everyday a holiday. Let everyday be a holiday from worries and stress. Give tension a holiday everyday. Give a very long and permanent holiday to all those emotions such as jealousy, worry, stress, tension, and their friends.

Arbor Day – The Selflessness Of Trees

Arbor Day, as it is commonly known today, is of American origin and was first observed in Nebraska, USA on the 10th of April 1872. Now it is always observed on the last Friday in April. Arbor Day in different forms and names is now observed in more than fifty countries.

Arbor in Latin means a tree. The spirit of Arbor Day is to plant trees and care for them and help them grow strong. It is what we give back to nature. If we think about our ancestors, we can imagine the dependence on trees in those times. Trees were widely used for wood, fruits, flowers and the shade a tree gave. Think of a tree. Most of the trees grow from a small seed. Let us become a little philosophical. Reconciliation Day

I had a bad fight yesterday and today he/she is no more. How do I say sorry now? It is too late. But I never thought that this would happen to him/her. So healthy. A small pain in the chest that increased and before medical help could arrive he/she was dead. Now what do I do. But you know, I was right yesterday. But it all sounds like a nightmare now. Oh, God, this guilt will never go away. How does one say sorry to a dead body even if one was right?

Have you ever come across such a talk any time in your life? Reconciliation Day is generally celebrated on April 2nd. This day comes especially so that we reconcile with all of those with who we have some tiff or grudge and have strained the relationship. The common meaning of reconciliation is to patch up or to resolve and bring the situation back to normal. Becoming friends again. Friendship is a great relationship as these friendship wallpapers show.

What I narrated in the first Para was a dramatization. That does not happen most of the times. But it was used only to bring your attention to what if something like this happens. So why not to reconcile every grudge as soon as possible. Why wait for this day. Let us look at this from the other side of the mirror. Why not to avoid all the fights. Let us rather live a life full of peace.

None of us wants to easily agree that we might be wrong. That is human nature. Another important damaging element in arguments is non-listening. No one wants to truly listen to the other party. That creates further rancor. The best approach is - never argue, and if an argument begins, try to kill it by all the means. If saying sorry helps right in the beginning, say that. If the argument can be deflected by a joke, please do that. And if the arguments don't stop and damage the relationship, go back and reconcile as soon as possible. Good Friday And Easter

Jesus died on the cross. Jesus was nailed on the cross. Yes, He was nailed. How many of you have taken injection shots? Do you remember the feeling of pain that comes with a very thin needle? That also is taken away within few seconds. Now imagine getting hit with a nail and the nail crossing your palm, a thick nail and you are left to bleed. Now imagine the pain. Christianity teaches us about how to bear our pain and still try and make others happy.

Pain, intense pain, yes, death by intense pain and Jesus died with that. By laws of science, I don't know how much of His weight was taken by His palms, but even if the weight taken was a fraction of his body weight, the pain would been much more. And Jesus died on the cross, bearing his own weight with his palms, bleeding. Left to bleed in the afternoon sun.

Birthday - Let Us Deserve To Celebrate It

Every day is the same day. Days differ only in few ways- weather conditions, sunrise and sunset time. Otherwise all the days are same. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. This has been going on since billions of years and will continue, till the cosmos collapses. Then why do we treat a day different than other? The difference is not in the day, but in our moods, wishes, outlook, frustration, meetings and non meeting achievements, failures etc. If what makes us feel good occurs on a day, we call it a great day. Otherwise, it can be called as a boring day, or a useless day or whatever.

So, why do we love our birthday? Why do we celebrate it? Why do we feel good about it? I mean most of us. For some people including myself, a birthday may be no different than any other day. So let us talk of people who celebrate their birthday. They do it because they were born on that day. Am I correct? But is their birth a cause of celebration? What have they achieved to celebrate? Billions of people inhabit the earth, so what is so great about a single person?

Coming back to the subject,these are philosophical enquiries that make us understand ourselves, and our relationship with the world better. I would say that if you are a loving person, you are a great person. No matter whether you are neither rich nor famous. I would say that if you can help a person forget his/her pain for sometime, you are a great person. I would say, if you give some money without hesitation for a cause, you are a good person. If you cheer up someone, you are a good person. If you can help the planet become better even with a smallest act, you are a great person, and your birthday should be celebrated. Our birthdays should make us think more of ourselves, our actions, our values, our integrity, our gentleness, our compassion, our goals, our desires, our helping hand, our willingness to wipe away tears and every other act or thought that can make us a better person. We must celebrate our birthday if we wish, but along with day, we must add one more positive quality to ourselves. That will give us greater happiness than any other celebration. One feels worthy and good, only if one is really so. We can fool people in to believing that we are good, but we cannot fool ourselves. Everything You Do Is Right Day

16th March is celebrated as the day when whatever you do is right. This is a very exciting thought. I searched for the origin but could not find any clue about how this day began. What precisely does this mean - Everything you do is right.

Let me put my ideas across about this day. In our everyday life whenever we do anything, it can be called right or wrong. Many a times, not only others, but we ourselves are in doubt about the right action. This creates anxiety and makes every decision making job a tough job. This dilemma about right or wrong takes the pleasure away from life.

Children, especially very young children don't have any such dilemma. They do whatever they want and they do it with fun. They enjoy everything and never question if their action was right or wrong. They leave that decision to their parents. What a tension-free life do these children live! Don't you envy them?

For one day, say we drop our critical analysis of all our actions and do whatever we think best and don't think twice about why? Normally, if you have to take a decision about firing an inefficient employee and save money for your company, the decision is tough. Either way, you feel bad. On 16th, if you take a decision about any such issue, treat it as right. This is a very good concept to feel stress-free in life. If we follow this everyday in our life, we can beat a lot of stress.

Think, deliberate, weigh pros and cons, and discuss. After considering every aspect, take a decision and then stop analyzing that again. Most of us do all this, but continue agonizing ourselves after taking a decision. Does this help? No. This is a sure formula for a stressed life. Beat stress in the way I suggested above and relax. All of us make our life difficult with our style of functioning. It is for us to change our style and enjoy living. Let us celebrate each day of our life as 'everything you do is right' day. Plant A Flower Day

12th March is called Plant A Flower Day. Why this day is celebrated on on 12th march, could not be found out by me. How we began the tradition is again unknown. At least I could not find any information on that. But whoever did has done a great service to mankind.

Why do I say so? Let me elaborate. Pick up a flower if you have one nearby, or imagine of a flower. Have you seen anything more beautiful in nature? Yes, butterflies come as close competitors in colors. But butterflies are insects, whereas flowers belong to the plant world. Look around any landscape. What do we expect to find? Trees, waterfalls, streams, rivers, mountains, fruits, rocks, stones, grass and such other natural objects that make a typical landscape. You can add snow and sand to this list for some regions. Now can any of these claim of beauty similar to that of flowers? Can anything compare with the softness, the shape and the fragrance of flowers? Nothing. Celebrating St. Patricks Day

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland is believed to have brought Christianity to Ireland in the forth century. He is believed to have removed many practices followed by pagan religions during that time. He is famous for having driven away all the snakes from Ireland, which refers to the practice of snake worshipping.

He is thought to have died on 17th March. Some stories about him are products of fertile imaginations over the centuries. What is important is that he has given the Irish Catholics an identity. Irish people celebrate 17th march as St. Patrick's Day. On this day most of the cities where Irish have a big population celebrate the day with parades. Today this day is the day to celebrate the Irish spirit. Color green, shamrocks, and luck. Enjoy the spirit of St. Patrick's Day with screensavers. Christmas - Giving Is A Blessing

Christmas brings a new life to the believers. Much before Christmas comes, the mood around the world changes. It is the anticipation of lovely days ahead of giving joy, meeting friends and family and feeling the spirit in the air that changes the most negative person to positive moods. Chastens makes a person different. The same man, who you never see smiling, laughs during Christmas. That is the festive spirit of Christmas and that is why it is a lovely festival.

The most important part of Christmas is of course celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Another ritual of Christmas that makes it so special is giving. We send so many cards to friends and family that we lose the count. Similarly giving gifts is very important. Selecting the right gift for everyone, wrapping it lovingly and sending it across, all this is joyful. This joy cannot be described in words.

As I said earlier, it is the giving that is the major reason of happiness. If we look at our moods and behavior, we find that we always derive greater joy in giving compared to receiving. Can we not celebrate this spirit of giving everyday? Can we not get this joy everyday? Can we not make someone happy everyday? We can. With conscious effort, we can do one act a day that makes somebody genuinely happy. Why not carry the spirit of Christmas all the year and enjoy the happiness of giving.
